Will ToughReboot work on my Toughbook?

We support seven models: CF-19, CF-20, CF-31, CF-33, CF-53, CF-54 and FZ-55 — including their sub-models and MK versions. Check your model page for the exact details on your unit, or send us your full model number and we'll confirm.

How do I find my full model number?

It's on the label on the bottom of the unit, and also in your BIOS settings. It looks like CF-311H271KM — the whole string, not just "CF-31." That string tells us your exact configuration, which is what we need to get you the right drive.

Will I get Windows 11 or Windows 10?

ToughReboot installs the highest version of Windows your specific unit can run. Later MK versions of most models take Windows 11 officially. Earlier MKs can run Windows 11, but only with our driver work — Microsoft's compatibility check blocks them otherwise. The earliest units top out at Windows 10, which is still a significant jump if you're sitting on Windows 7. Your model page lists exactly where your unit lands.

Send us the full model number anyway. We've been working with rugged Panasonic hardware for fifteen years and we may be able to point you somewhere useful even if we don't have a drive for it yet. We recommend www.ToughbookRescue.com for models we do not have.
Does it work on every sub-model?

Yes — the correct driver stack for every model and sub-model we support is on the drive. That's the whole point of it.

1. Do I need to buy a Windows license? No. Your Toughbook's Windows license is already embedded in the BIOS from the factory. ToughReboot just gives you the tool to use it. Windows activates itself during install.2. Are these cracked or pirated copies of Windows? No. Nothing on the drive is cracked, patched or unlicensed. We use genuine Microsoft installation media and your machine's own factory license. What we add is the driver work Panasonic never did — that's the product.3. Will Windows stay activated? Yes. The license lives in the hardware, so activation holds through reinstalls on that same machine.

1. Will this erase my data? Yes. This is a clean install — everything on the drive gets wiped. Back up anything you need before you start. If you're not sure how, ask us before you begin, not after.2. How long does it take? Usually under an hour, start to finish.3. What's the difference between Silent Mode and Interactive Mode? Silent Mode does everything automatically — you boot from the drive, walk away, and come back to a working machine. Interactive Mode shows you every step and lets you confirm as it goes. Silent is what most people want. Both are on the same drive.4. Do I need an internet connection? No. Everything needed is on the drive, which is the point — no hunting dead Panasonic support pages mid-install.5. Do I need to be technical? No. Plug in the drive, boot from it, click once. If you can change a boot order in BIOS, you can do this — and the guide walks you through that part.6. What if something goes wrong during the install? Get in touch with your full model number and a description of what you're seeing. These machines are what we do.

1. What's the difference between the physical drive and digital download? Identical installer, identical drivers, identical activation. The physical drive ($149) arrives ready to use on a 32GB aluminium USB 3.0 stick in a custom wooden box, shipped free with tracking. The digital download ($99) is delivered within 24 hours and you write it to your own blank USB drive.2. Which should I choose? The physical drive, if you want it to just work — it's pre-loaded, tested and nothing can go wrong in the transfer. Choose digital if you're in a hurry, comfortable writing a bootable USB, and have a spare drive on hand.3. What size USB drive do I need for the digital version? 8GB or larger, blank. It gets wiped during the write.4. How fast is delivery? Digital lands within 24 hours of purchase. Physical ships free by courier with a tracking number.

1. Can I use it on more than one Toughbook? No — the drive is tied to the unit you bought it for, because it's using that machine's factory Windows license. You can reuse it on that same unit as many times as you need: drive upgrade, disk failure, or you just want a fresh start years from now.2. What if I sell the laptop? The drive goes with the machine it belongs to. If you buy another Toughbook, get in touch — we'll sort you out.3. Why do you need my serial number after I order? So we can match the drive to your exact configuration. We collect it after checkout so you're not hunting for it before you've decided.4. What's your refund policy? 30 days, money back. If it doesn't do what we said it does, you're covered.5. Do you handle bulk or fleet orders? Yes. Police, EMS, military and fleet operators — we handle multi-unit orders, purchase orders and invoicing. Send us the models and quantities and we'll put a quote together.
